The Basic Boxing Class is one-hour long and can burn up to 1000 calories. It consists of stretching, shadowboxing, bag work, hand pad work, and ab work. Be sure to show up to class 15 minutes early and bring water and a towel. The heavy bag, the double end bag, and the speed bag are great ways to get in shape and learn boxing techniques. These bags have helped many world champions get ready for the biggest fights of their lives. At one time, these bags were just for boxers; now, MMA fighters also use these time-tested workout bags.
All of these bags help improve your boxing technique, as well as strengthen your arms, chest, back, shoulders, and legs. They will also help improve your endurance, power, coordination, and balance. These classes can also help reduce stress and improve your overall health. The sport of boxing dates back to ancient Greece and the Olympic games. Boxing reappeared in Great Britain in the 1700s when James Figg became the first English boxing champ. Boxing first came to the United States from England in the late 1700s. In 1882, John L. Sullivan became the first American heavyweight champion and defended his title for 10 years. John L. Sullivan then fought James J. Corbett in the first boxing match under the Marquis of Queensberry rules on September 7, 1892 in New Orleans. James J. Corbett won by KO in the 21st round. This was considered the first fight in modern-day boxing.
